Has made plating fetch enjoyable again
LOOOVE THIS! I’m not sure who this is more for, the dogs or myself? I have 5 small dogs that range from 4 to 13 pounds. trying to play fetch with all of them at once can get crazy and tiresome. This automatic ball launcher is a total game changer. Playing fetch with the dogs is now enjoyable again. This ball launcher is for smaller dogs since it only works with the smaller balls. It does take balls of different texture which is nice. That means more of the balls they already had can be used with this. It does come with plenty of balls to start, but we all know how the small balls always seem to disappear or get torn up. Its nice not having to go through the hassle of replacing them with a certain kind. There are 3 different settings that change the distance the balls are tossed. Believe me, this can really toss some balls, especially on the furthest setting. It does take maybe 30 seconds at most for the ball to be launched after loading it into the machine. Just enough time for my dogs to run back out after the ball. It won’t launch the balls if they are wet and/or covered in slobber. With little dogs I don’t see the slobber being too much of a problem. It can run off batteries or be plugged in. If you want to take this with you to the park, you can. It’s lightweight and easy to move or carry. Overall I think this ball launcher is an awesome idea. I can see how it wouldn’t be for everyone or every dog. I don’t think it would work so well for us if we only had one or even 2 dogs. Using it with 5 dogs is a life saver. I usually still have to throw a couple here and there so none of them are must sitting around and waiting. My dogs haven’t quite learned how to take turns. I will take a couple throws here and there over constant throwing for 10 plus minutes straight. Another issue for some may be the dogs learning to drop the balls in the machine. My dogs have always brought them balls back to me. They are still figuring out how to bring the ball back to the machine and drop it in. I’d say they’ve got it down about 60% of the time. But hey, I will take it. I think this is worth every bit of $59.99 they are charging. I would order this again if needed. It has proven to be pretty durable and well built. We use this at least 3 times a week, 20 plus minutes each time, for months now and it works just as well as the day I took it out of the box. Definitely mom and dog approved!!

Works well when it isn’t jammed.
I was really looking forward to getting this because I have two dachshunds, and one is committed to chasing balls like there’s a professional career in it for him after college. Unfortunately, I don’t think he is college material because he cannot figure out that it’s his job, not mine, to put the ball in the launcher. Moreover, there is no known professional ball chasing league for dogs, so I’m in a bind. I want to support his dreams, but it looks like he needs to be steered toward a trade like rug weighting or fireplace monitoring. In all seriousness, this is a pretty good product overall that has some faults; it has adjustments for range, operates somewhat quietly, and would work well for a single dog with one ball and a brain. The problem is, for someone like me who wants to be as little involved with the machine as possible, you can’t put multiple balls in the hopper without having it jam. It will fire the first one, but the next inevitably drops before the launcher fully resets, and it gets stuck. You then have to recover the ball and cycle the power to reset it. The power cord could be both longer and more robust; it’s a very thin A/C adapter cord which is… not atypical, but because it lays on the ground in high traffic areas, it should be somewhat sturdier. And did I mention that it should be longer? I don’t want it to go unmentioned that it’s far too short to be useful without an extension cord or the very happy coincidence of an outlet immediately next to the place where you want to use the device. It can also run on 8 C batteries, but I can’t see taking this to the park when I have two perfectly good arms, or spending a tenth of the cost of the launcher on an experiment to see how long those eight cells would last. There is also the matter of the balls, which are quite nice, but of a very specific size. My dog plays almost solely with racquet balls; blue Penn racquet balls, to be specific. Not red, green or purple. Not made by Python or Gearbox… Penn Ultra-Blue. They must taste and smell a certain way – darned if I know. The point is, they don’t fit in this launcher, and other balls don’t hold his attention the same way, if at all. The end result is that half the time or more, the ball will launch, he will chase it, then determine it is not worth the trouble to bring back. He’s a weird little guy.Down the road, I would love to pass this along as a gift to someone whose pup is better equipped to enjoy it. I will have to find a new box though, because that part was extremely popular with both of mine.

Works perfectly once you train the most important component: your dog
This automatic ball launcher has become my puppy’s new obsession, though she’s still working out the finer points of actually using it as intended. At this point, I’d say it’s worth close to what it cost, if not completely. The machine delivers on its promises. We usually use the furthest setting for 20-30 foot throws because my pup has caffeinated toddler energy levels. The pneumatic thump is satisfying without being jarring, and the included balls are genuinely durable despite my dog treating most toys like they personally offended her.Reality check: the balls jam if you load more than one at a time, and the power cable was designed by someone who thinks electrical outlets live in the middle of every yard. If you use this plugged in, an extension cord may be required. The biggest challenge remains convincing my puppy that dropping the ball back into the hole isn’t optional. Once we master full automation, this thing will be worth its weight in tennis balls.
