The Benebone Dental Chew
Benebone’s Dental Chew is not only a durable flavor-packed chew. It makes for a great tug toy. And what could be better than a bacon-flavored toothbrush?
About Benebone
We started with the premise that dogs experience scent and flavor in a way we can’t even grasp. So we ditched the neon colors and loud squeaks. Inspired by a dog’s powerful sense of smell, we developed a long-lasting durable chew that’s jam-packed with real bacon. Once your dog takes a bite of our USA-made chews, he’ll be hooked.
We’re Obsessed with Safety Too
Wonder if Benebone is right for your dog? Here’s what you need to know. Since it’s hard, it’s important that your pup has strong teeth. If you’re unsure, check with your vet. Nobody likes an unexpected trip to the dentist. Keep an eye out for wear and tear. Within a month or so, we find that most dogs chew Benebone into submission. See the wear page on our website for helpful photos to determine when to replace yours. Keep away from households with peanut or other allergies.

Instant Favorite for Our Golden Retriever!
We got this toy for our two-year-old golden retriever, and she absolutely loves it! From the moment she got it, she hasn’t stopped playing. It feels sturdy and well-made, and I’m confident it’ll hold up over time. We’re really impressed with the quality and already looking forward to getting more from this brand!

Your dog will LOVE it!
I have 3 dogs. We have several toys and bones laying around. However, this is the favorite! All 3 dogs LOVE this bone! One of the dogs took it outside and left it there. It was like us losing our phone! Panic searching around trying to find it. Once it was brought back inside, they all relaxed.

Doesn’t really taste like bacon. I know becaused I chewed it. Great as a slower eating thingy.
So my dog has this thing where she does not want to chew on anything that she is supposed to chew on unless it’s a knuckle bone that she cannot be trusted with (because she bites off fragments of bone) or one of those flexible, edible nylabones for “gentle” chewers, which she will eat in a single sitting. If I want to get her to chew something that might actually withstand her for more than an hour, I have to pretend it’s mine. It’s a secret forbidden treat that I love very much and just “accidentally” left within her reach to steal and covet. So it’s pretty much standard practice at this point that, when I get her a new chew toy, I gotta carry it around for a while, pretending to chew on it. I got this bone in the mail and did exactly that, but I noticed right off the bat that, for a bacon-flavored thing, it didn’t smell like anything at all. It was just this plain sort of plastic scent. And that’s how I ended up actually chewing on it instead of just miming it out because maybe the bacon flavor was under the initial layer? But no, it wasn’t. It was just bacon-colored plastic. So if your dog is the type of chewer that will chew regardless of flavor, this should work out fine. If not, go for something else. My dog did not give a heck about this bone, even once the “this is actually mine but you cleverly stole it away” ritual was completed. After that, I tried putting it in her bowl with her food, thinking maybe the flavor of the food would rub off enough that she’d want to chew it. She didn’t, but what did happen is the reason I’m giving this a positive review at all. While it fails utterly as a chew, it makes a really great impromptu “stop eating so fast, you tornado shaped like a dog” mechanism. We’ve bought actual slower eating bowls for her and never had any success, because she just gives up and cries if she can’t get her face into the crevices. But when we put this in her regular round bowl and pour her wet food around it, she’s able to nose the benebone around in the bowl as she eats her food, but it does slow her down considerably. She’s way less farty and whiny after food time, which anyone who has experienced how specifically racid dog farts can be will know is a blessing. So, thanks, Benebone. For us, your product is worthless as a chew, but invaluable as a makeshift slower eating thingy.Edit: Benebone got in contact with me about my review and offered to refund my purchase and send me some different products to try. I declined the refund, because I do find the bone I bought useful for the above-described purpose of slowing my dog down when she eats. But I did accept the samples. She’s still pretty unimpressed with them, and I will probably end up passing them along to other dog-havers I know, but I myself am pretty impressed with Benebone’s customer service and so have changed my review from 3 stars to 4.It was “suggested” that I mention that other dogs will probably be more satisfied with Benebone’s flavors if they are not as picky as my dog is, and that sampling a Benebone yourself is maybe not the most reliable way to test its tastiness, when dogs have much more sensitive noses/tongues than humans. Which is certainly true! But I don’t think my dog is a complete alien for wanting something with slightly more discernible flavor and scent. And I do think some of the advertising for Benebone implies more of that than you actually get in the finished product. So I’m gonna have to double down on my previous assessment that, if your dog likes to chew for the sake of chewing, Benebone will probably really appeal to them. But if they’re a more food-motivated chewer, you’re better off with fully-edible chews like rawhide or bully sticks.

The aggressive chewer game changer
This chew toy has quickly become my dog’s favorite, and I couldn’t be happier with the purchase. I love that this chew toy is not just for fun but also promotes dental health. The design helps clean my dog’s teeth and gums while he chews, making it a great addition to his oral care routine. Designed specifically for aggressive chewers, this toy holds up exceptionally well. My dog has put it through the wringer, and it shows no signs of breaking down, which is a huge relief!

Benebone – We’ve Been Waiting For You!
What on earth do you do with young pups who have tons of energy, sharp teeth, and powerful jaws? You exercise them, of course! And then you give them Benebones. Wow. These are a huge hit in my home.Several times during the last 20 years I’d purchased Nylabones (similar concept), but none of my dogs had shown any interest. It was disappointing because I needed a heavy-duty chew toy for my pets to enjoy while inside the house; I can only guess they lacked enough flavor.Benebones (one peanut butter, one bacon) are a welcome addition. My dogs detected something exciting in the Amazon box, and when I revealed the goodies inside, ALL the pups were interested. They’re still chewing away and swapping flavors. I’m equally delighted! It’s important to remember that powerful chewers (especially young pups with sharp teeth) can destroy just about anything. Let’s face it; they’re born with jaws capable of chewing through animal hide and bone. Chew toys are no exception. My dogs (mixes of Shepherd, Retriever, and Doberman) are fiercely and happily chewing on their Benebones and making a dent in them. As the chew toy gets wet, it softens on the surface. Teeth marks are evident, and the smooth surface of the toy becomes jagged, BUT the dogs are not destroying it. It’s the most significant difference for me; the surface changes, but not the integrity of the entire toy. You can see where it is minimally breaking down, but overall they are lasting. The toy is solid when dry, and the roughened surface scrubs the dog’s teeth. Then, as the dog continues to chew, the toy softens a little. I cannot detect any odors and I don’t see stains on my rugs or furniture. Thankfully, my dogs haven’t experienced any obvious GI upset, which can happen with natural chews like horns and rawhide. The photo shows both bones after a week of daily assault, and they’re still holding up. Even if they only last for another week, they’re still a far better value than the chew toys that get destroyed within 10 minutes. However, it appears the Benebones will endure many more weeks (if not months) of enjoyment, and this makes them an absolute winner for my brood.Hope this helps!

Don’t buy if you have an aggressive chewer!
I gave this nylon bone a three star because it is heavy made and a very nice size. However, if you have an aggressive chewer, it won’t hold up. I ordered this when my German Shepherd/Belgium Malinois was about three months old. It held up nicely and she loved chewing on it as you can tell from the photo. She is now four months old and it is starting to shred on the edges. I don’t want my dogs swallowing pieces of nylon so it went to the trash. I understood when I ordered ii that it wouldn’t do that.

For years my go to for heavy chewers has been cow hoofs and intact deer antler. Then we got an Australian Shepherd… This was a dog that wanted multiple new cow hoofs daily, and would not stop pestering for a fresh one. Intact deer antlers have become more and more difficult to acquire, so I went searching for an alternative. We have had an assortment of the BeneBones now for over a month. Interest has not waned, still used daily, and wear is minimal. This has solved the problem.Granted, the cow hoofs are a buck apiece, but that equals the cost of a single BeneBone in a week!We ordered her both the wishbone and curved one…so far I have not been able to notice a preference. We ordered chicken and peanut butter in both shapes…so far I have not been able to notice a preference. The only problem, is she loves to take them outside, then at night I have to go on a hunt in the dark to collect them all! Thank fully, there appears to be no attempt to bury them, yet!Personally, I had a hard time with the cost of these, but now seeing the longevity and joy they provide, I am happy to say they are well worth the cost, and I consider them a long term investment.Highly recommended.
