Worked so well, I wasn’t sure the cat was using the litter box!
The first night we put this in the cat’s bedroom, in place of her traditional litter box (with her old litter in it, of course), I honestly thought she didn’t use it at all that night. I could smell urine, and thought she had maybe gone on the carpet somewhere, but didn’t see where.I checked a few times that day to see if it looked like the liter had been shifted or anything, but no real signs of usage. We were about to put her old one back in until we could work with her over the weekend, when it occurred to me that I could check the waste drawer at the bottom. Lo and behold, there were multiple clumps of waste!I do still think she pottied on the carpet that first night, because there was a strong urine scent that, after we sprayed down the carpet with our enzyme cleaner, has not returned. I don’t know for sure, but my assumption is that she relieved herself outside of the box that first night, but realized what the box was after that and has been using it steadily ever since.I think this speaks volumes to how well this automatic litter box works; if I couldn’t see anything in the box and it looked like the litter was untouched, then it is doing a uniform cleaning and it’s picking up all clumps so well that it leaves nothing behind.We’ve been using this for a few weeks now, and it’s just so easy to take care of! We change out the waste twice a week (because we have 2x trash pickup, so might as well, right?), and the air freshener keeps all cat smells at bay. When changing the litter, we use a brush to clean off the scoop blades because there is a little litter left on it, but that takes me like 2 seconds.There is a little bit of litter tracking when the kitty leaves the box, but we use a silicone mat under it anyway, so it’s not like there’s a new mess for us to take care of. And even if there was extra litter on the carpet, I’d much rather run the vacuum for a minute to clean that up rather than scoop poop out of a traditional litter tray!One thing I absolutely want to mention… this uses very little litter! The min and max lines are very close together, and it doesn’t have to be refilled all that often, only changed periodically on schedule (for smell, not because it stops working or anything like that). We’re using less litter, doing less work, and getting better cleanup than using a traditional litter box. This thing is fantastic!Also, it was pretty easy to put together.I absolutely recommend this self-cleaning litter box, and am so glad we got it!
