Cat calming collar
I took my cat on a 6 hr trip wearing the collar. He was very calm and not bothered at all. Somehow it got lost while out of town. The ride home was miserable. He cried the entire trip. I just ordered another collar to keep on hand for when I travel again.

My daughter’s cat had licked bald patches in his fur, caused by anxiety from our dogs and his “mommy” being gone most of the day. I was really surprised at how well these have helped him calm down and relax. His hair has grown back, and while he’s still not thrilled with our dogs, he’s tolerating them much better now.

It did reduce stress, but don’t expect any miracles
I purchased this when I had to take my cat (9-year-old neutered male) overseas with me for work, in order to make his transition a little easier.The collar is really long and is supposed to be cut to adjust to the size of the cat in question. I wound up cutting it more than once because the end has a tendency to stick up and snag on things. I frequently had to adjust the collar on him, because it’s possible for it to somehow tighten itself. He never choked on it, but it was significantly tighter one afternoon when I got home and I felt a bit nervous about that. If you’re aware and check the collar frequently you shouldn’t have anything to worry about. It has a relatively nice smell which can be described as artificial and weird but not unpleasant.The collar was placed on him a few days before traveling. He meowed a lot less during the last car ride to the vet, which was a good sign, and seemed to be in a very cuddly mood at home. He still spent the entire plane ride shaking in fear with a few interspersed naps, but in a much calmer manner than I had anticipated. The biggest surprise came when we arrived at the new place: he adapted quickly. He did not hide, as he usually does, and was quick to use the litter box, eat an entire meal, and explore the new place. This surprised me because he’s never moved, and when leaving him at friends’ homes while I had to go on trips, he usually spent nearly an entire week hiding under the bed (coming out only to pee and ignoring food).I kept the collar on him for more than thirty days to see if there was a noticeable taper-off. There was no noticeable change in behavior, which leads me to believe it does last a bit longer than described on the box. The smell was still there. After about six weeks total I removed the collar, and the only difference I noticed was that when he had to have a check-up, he had gone back to loudly meowing during car rides.Unfortunately, I did not bring a back-up collar with me, and it turned out that I couldn’t buy a second one in Europe when it was time to move back due to pheromone collars not being for sale there. On the plane ride back to America he was without it, and he showed higher levels of stress and was in an overall worse mood than the first time around (curled up into a tighter ball, did not sleep at all, and was less willing to snuggle my hand than the first time). He did not meow on the plane during either of the trips.It is definitely worth trying, but note that even if it helps, it will not eliminate stress entirely. It is not a replacement for appropriately acclimating your cat to new carriers over time. The biggest difference for me was how quickly he adapted to a new place without feeling afraid.

Felaway Purple collars
I have been buying Felaway calming collars with great success for calming a couple very nervous kitties. Usually white hard plastic, no noticable aroma and work great. This collar, however, is Purple and smells strongly of plastic and skunk. That is the only way I can describe it. The cats couldn’t stand it and tore off the collars. And We couldn’t stand the smell and threw them away after 2 days. Just putrid odor that would even get on my hands. It worked on my older (10yr old) cat, totally relaxed him for a recent house move and he’s been calm since.However, the younger cat (4yr old) it did not work at all. He hated the collar and I suspect had sun allergic response to it as he lost a lot of hair where the collar was. I definitely put it on correctly, but it looks like I’ve shaved him in the shape of a collar. Very weird.I’ll be ordering more for the older cat.

I wasn’t sure if they would 100% work but after using them for a couple of months I can confirm they definitely do! One of our girls is a bit sensitive to… well everything… so I thought I’d try these after the plugins not really doing much for her. I hadn’t realised just how much they were working until she started spraying again the other day and I realised it was because her collar needed changing to a new one. Within 24hours of changing it to the new one she’s stopped weeing on things again and she curled up in my lap all purry. Honestly so happy with these, it’s nice to have our happy purry girl back.They do absolutely stink when you first get them out but she gets used to it quickly and i’m really not concerned that they’re too strong for her as we left the collar loose enough for her to get it off if needed and she never even tried.

We used these on our 2 cats for our house move. One cat is particularly timid and hides all day and only comes out for food. Since putting his collar on her she’s been so much confident and is out, playing and cuddling us after 4 years of having her! I decided not to replace the collar just to test it, it’s now been 5 weeks so the collar needs replacing and low and behold, she is starting to hide again… so they very clearly do work. No adverse side effects with either cat either.
