Great find for my Little Rescue Dog!!
I was leery about ordering this because of the multiple bad reviews, but I was at my wit’s end and so I decided to give this a go. My little chiweenie is a rescued dog and is extremely anxious – he snaps and shakes when anything comes near him, let alone a vibrating tool like this. However, he was apparently introduced poorly to regular clippers, because he would get very agitated if I tried to use the clippers on him. I could MAYBE get one nail clipped without getting snapped at, but of the few times I was successful, I over-clipped twice due to his struggling and wound up hurting the little blighter – erg – which made him even MORE terrified of the clipper. So, I decided to try this. This is what I did.(1) For a few WEEKS – I brought out the grinder every night, turned it on and placing it NEAR us – but not too near – and I talked calmly to my pup and fed him treats, telling him in an upbeat voice that everything was ok and that he was a very good dog.(2) After he started ignoring it a bit and started focusing on his treats, I held him and grinded a bit on ONE nail, still talking to him the entire time, and then I immediately turned off the grinder and gave him treats and acted as if he had just done a spectacular trick. NOTE: If your dog is a rescue dog and and / or an anxious dog like mine, make sure you take him outside for his business first, heh heh. The little man managed to get me a little bit wet on our first encounter with actually using the grinder. He is more self-contained now as he is getting less and less anxious the more we do it, but I still make sure he has gone out before I use the tool.(3) After the first initial success, every few days I would take out the grinder and follow this procedure, doing one nail, then after awhile two, etc, until I could get through one paw, then two, etc.(4) At this point, I can get through all 4 paws pretty quickly, and he only starts getting nervous for the back paws – this is where he got over-clipped when I used clippers, so I guess he is still skittish about that. My bad. =(The little man doesn’t LOVE the grinder yet, and I am not sure he will ever get to that point, but he allows me to get it done with very little trouble and I am very, very pleased with this product. The guard makes sure I don’t over-grind, and I always count a few seconds and then I go on to the next nail. If I have to grind more, I come back to it after I have done a few other nails so it has time to cool down, or I just get to it the next day. Yeah, I grind more than I would have to clip, but who cares?? It takes me almost no time, the little man gets his happy treat when we are done, and he is only a little nervous during the entire process when he used to be absolutely terrified at the sight of the clippers.I could not be happier and I would absolutely recommend this with two caveats:(1) Expect to be patient. I read some of the really negative reviews and it looked like some of the people were trying to acclimate their dog in a week. It took WEEKS to acclimate my dog, and then I added one nail at a time. It only takes a few minutes every night to get him acclimated eventually, but when your dog finally gets to the point where you can do all 4 paws, you are set for life. Small tradeoff IMHO.(2) It is quite possible this WON’T work on larger dogs’ nails. It works fine on my little chiweenie, but I have no recommendation for anything larger since I have no experience with a larger animal, so caveat emptor if you have a bigger pooch.

PediPaws is amazing and easy to use.
I have been sitting my friends and neighbors dogs and cat for many years and when I saw PediPaws I was anxious to give it a try, I bought one started to use it, it was kinda awkward, then I took of the protective yellow guard which for me was not necessary and I fought it to be easier to use, I also discovered that by using rechargable batteries, fully charged it worked even better, I do big dogs and little dogs and it works well with cats as well, if there are difficulties, it may be the way you handle your pet, when I am ready to use it, PediPaws I put it on my recliner so she can see it, then when she curious I show her when it is off, then a couple of hours later I turn it on but leave it on my recliner, and then that evening I will so her nail with no trouble at all, if you remove the yellow guard you must pay attention so that you do not sand the pads and you will get better at it, I love using this, it is so much better then having to pay up to $50.00 all of the time. This pays for it self after the first use. Good Luck and remember to prays you pet if they are doing well. Thank You.

PediPaws Pet Nail Trimmer —TERRIBLE PRODUCT AND TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
I bought this product over 10 years ago when it first came out. It still works like new and I have been very satisfied. That being said, everything has changed with the product. The shell appears the same, but thie inside is very badly put together.POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE: I placed an order for a second PediPaws Pet Nail Trimmer more thn a month ago for my mother. It finally arrived today May 13, 2014. I had contacted the seller two weeks ago wondering where the product was, and did not receive any reply. Today upon receiving the PediPaws Pet Nail Trimmer I noticed the product was shipped to the USA from HONG KONG, CHINA!! So if you are foolish enough to order this product, beware it takes forever to get it. Then the product is a big disapointment. I have already contacted Amazon and asked for a total refund.HERE IS THE PROBLEM WITH THE PRODUCT:1) The PediPaws Pet Nail Trimmer takes 2 “C” batteries. I was completely floored and quite baffled that the batteries would not begin fit into the tube which is the compartment that holds them! The electrical connections inside completely prevented the batteries even starting to slip into the compartment tube which is intended to hold them. The batteries were not just a little tight, they would not even start to go into the tube!! Finally I unscrewed three tiney screws on the outside of the PediPaws Pet Nail Trimmer expanding the tube, and then slipped in the two batteries and replaced the screws making sure that all electrical connections were in still in place. However, even after doing all of this the PediPaws Pet Nail Trimmer will not turn on!! The PediPaws Pet Nail Trimmer is a complete dud. Now I have to deal with some one in CHINA to get this thing returned. Don’t waste your time or your money in buying this procduct.

New and Improoved! The sanding wheels got better.
This is my second nail grinder from Pedi Paws and this one is better. I wore out the last one over the years of grinding all my dogs nails with it and needed to buy another one. I’m happy to say the old type of sanding wheels worked, but gluing new sandpaper on them after the old wore down was a pain. The new wheels are changed by simply loosening a screw and slipping the round sanders off the bit and slipping a new one (4 supplied total) onto the bit and snugging the screw back down. DONE! The new sanders are readily available in a couple of different grits to fit your needs. There is one very significant difference from the old to the new, however. Now, Pedi Paws, I hope you are listening… THIS SUCKER VIBRATES like a lady toy(!), and the noise level jumped up a couple decibels too. The arbor sticks out too far without a needed bearing to support the balancing issue. Try making this a corded or rechargeable grinder, throw a bearing on the arbor, and you’ll get 5 stars from me.

I’ve been using a PediPaws nail trimmer for many years now on 2 small dogs. They panic a lot less with this dremel type trimmer compared to a clipper. Our older PediPaws nail trimmer was getting beat up so we decided to buy a new one (this one). It’s essentially the same as our older one except for the fact that it rotates the other way. Not a big deal we just had to adapt the way we trim the nails a bit. We change heads after we trim the nails of our 2 dogs once. The heads may still be good but not as good as new ones. It takes approximately 20 minutes to trim all 4 paws of one of my miniature dachshunds.Pros:- Our dogs prefer this over the clipper type of trimmers.- You can tell when you are getting close to the blood vessel before you hit it.- Pretty inexpressive compared to bringing your dogs to the vet or groomer every time they need their nails trimmed.Cons:- Takes longer to cut nails compared to clippers.- Motor could be stronger. If it was, the time to file down nails would be reduced.- You have to plan ahead to have batteries charged (or have new ones ready) or the motor will have a hard time filing the nails.
