Great value dog food and highly recommended for older dogs.
Not too long ago my dog had a cyst in his mouth and the vet went ahead and removed all of his remaining teeth. Even being toothless and a smaller dog he gobbles this kibble down without issue. His stools are consistent with each poop being firm yet wet. He also licks himself less frequently (see picture of him on my lap) as he would lick himself compulsively to the point of developing red streaks his legs.This food contains probiotics, MTC’s, and glucosamine all of which are important ingredients to have for older dogs. The probiotics help to strengthen their immune system and improve digestion and absorption of nutrients. The MTC’s are a fatty-acid derived from vegetable oils that studies have shown to help cognitive function in older dogs. Glucosamine is a compound found in cartilage that can help dogs with hip and joint pain.I recommend you give it a try, especially if you have an older dog that seems to be declining cognitively. There’s really no reason not to since it’s affordable, highly rated, and widely available both here on Amazon and at pet stores.

Great for 14+ dogs
Got this dog food for my senior dog who was 14 it was a great dog food for him for the last year and a half of his life he really benefited from the nutrition standpoint being he was an older dog. Although it is pricey, I do believe that Purina pro plan senior is great quality for your older dogs.

Might help, definitely doesn’t hurt
Our 12-year-old boxer/mastiff mix is having some cognitive issues related to age, so our veterinarian recommended this food. He really likes the taste, and we think that it may be helping (along with some of the other supplements we’re trying). Also seems to have resolved some of the gas issues that he was having previously, so that is a big plus. Definitely worth a try if your senior dog is having problems with dementia-type symptoms. Picture included doesn’t really have anything to do with the food, just sharing our sweet old boy 🙂

Works for now, but searching for better alternative
Have been purchasing this for an elderly yellow lab. Truly wish the FDA would oversee dog food ingredients… Already have one pup on prescription food (expensive). Thankful this elder can tolerate this brand of food. Will stay on this until I can find a better and healthier alternative in price range.

Very happy with this product
I have a 12 yr old Boxer mix. I’ve always stayed clear of Purina kibble products, but recently tried this ‘Pro Plan Senior Dog’ product to hopefully help with his arthritis. My Boxer has always had what I call ‘peanut butter poop’ since he was a puppy. I was pleasantly surprised when his poop became ‘regular – firm’ with the first bag (now on the second 30lb bag). I will stick with this product for the rest of his life.

I currently use the Purina Pro Plan dog good for the large breed dog for my setters: 2 English, 1 Irish, and 1 Gordon (Scottish). The older English setter (14.4 yrs old) is the only female in the group. The Irish setter is 14.5 yrs old. I mix the Bright Mind formula in a ratio of 4:1, the 1 being the large breed formula. The 2 older dogs are enjoying the senior food and clean the bowl. This was not the case when I previously added some Origen original food. They are both still joyful and happy to go for walks even though they are slower than they used to be. The other 2 dogs are 4 yrs old and they enjoy the Bright Mind formula too, although they get the opposite ratio of 1 Bright Mind : 4 Large Breed. All good!

Purina Pro was recommended by my vet several years ago. I was paying for really expensive and what I thought was high quality food, turns out it was not. I tried Purina Pro, my dog actually ate it! You can rotate flavours so your pet doesn’t get bored. Know she is a “senior dog” but you wouldn’t know it! Best decision ever switching to this affordable, convenient food option. Comes right to my door and often goes on sale!

I’m shocked that Amazon is allowing this considering the same product is advertised with a different seller at half the price on Amazon. My error in not paying attention to the quantity as it is dog food I have ordered previously from Amazon at a very fair price. The seller is unwilling to compensate and frankly I am shocked that Amazon allows this to occur.
